Pa. Officials Investigate Electricity Price Spikes

Law360, Philadelphia (February 26, 2014, 3:36 PM EST) -- State law enforcement officials and utility regulators in Pennsylvania said Wednesday they were looking into a slew of reports of skyrocketing electricity costs from consumers who recently switched to variable-rate pricing for their power supplies.

Attorney General Kathleen Kane said that she'd ordered her staff to work in collaboration with the state's Office of Consumer Advocate to parse through the complaints to determine whether power suppliers had improperly overcharged customers for electricity or failed to adequately disclose pricing structures.
