3 Nonprofits Ask To Join Fla. Gay Marriage Case

Law360, Miami (February 26, 2014, 8:40 PM EST) -- Three nonprofit groups sought Tuesday to intervene as party-defendants in a Florida case challenging two state laws and the Florida constitution's bans on same-sex marriage, saying the suit threatens their members' constitutional and political rights.

Florida Family Action Inc., Florida Democratic League Inc. and People United to Lead the Struggle for Equality Inc. say their intervention is necessary since the named defendant, the clerk of the courts of Miami-Dade County, cannot represent their interests in the action.
