Sen. Casey Wades Into Fight Over Pa. Union Dues Bills

Law360, Philadelphia (February 27, 2014, 1:23 PM EST) -- U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., urged leaders of the Pennsylvania General Assembly on Wednesday to nix a pair of pending bills that would end the automatic deduction of union dues from state public workers' paychecks.

Casey said the measures, which are aimed at preventing unions from including automatic dues deduction provisions in their collective bargaining agreements, were a needless assault on the long-respected ability of public workers to negotiate contracts with local government units and the state.
