Fewer Attys Embrace Part-Time Work Policies, Survey Says

Law360, New York (February 27, 2014, 6:35 PM EST) -- The prevalence of BigLaw firms allowing part-time attorney schedules doesn’t mean famously overworked lawyers are taking advantage, according to an industry employment survey released Thursday.

In fact, a look at full-versus-part time employment data compiled by the National Association for Law Placement found a shrinking single-digit percentage of firm lawyers working part-time last year.

Despite nearly universal availability of such policies or case-by-case allowances in the legal industry, just 6.1 percent of lawyers worked a less-than-full-time schedule in 2013, down from 6.2 percent in 2012 and...
