Law360, New York (February 28, 2014, 12:50 PM EST) -- The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ramped up its administrative adjudication program in 2013, issuing 13 administrative consent orders last year as compared to four in 2012 (these numbers reduce to 10 and two, respectively, when related matters are consolidated). These consent orders provide insight for regulated banks and nonbanks concerning the CFPB’s enforcement practices and priorities, and give examples of self-policing measures that firms can take now to best position themselves for CFPB scrutiny.
