Buffalo Trace Whiskey Sues Over Rival's 'Bison Ridge' Product
Law360, New York (February 28, 2014, 3:41 PM EST) -- Sazerac Co., the makers of Buffalo Trace bourbon whiskey, uncorked a trademark infringement lawsuit Friday against Crosby Lakes Spirits Co. over the rival distiller's "Bison Ridge" brand of Canadian whisky.
Sazerac says Buffalo Trace has become a widely known brand of bourbon since it debuted in 1999 and that Minnesota-based Crosby Lakes Spirits released Bison Ridge in 2011 with the specific intention of making a sound- and look-alike product.
