'Big Data' Review To Cover Private Sector, Official Says

Law360, New York (March 3, 2014, 9:29 PM EST) -- White House counsel John Podesta said Monday that his privacy review group, ordered by the president earlier this year, will focus on the private sector’s use of so-called big data and whether additional privacy protections are needed to address new technologies.

Podesta said the group will look at the relationship between government and citizens and how public and private sectors can encourage innovation and maximize the free flow of information while minimizing the risks to privacy. His remarks were made during a speech introducing his study...
