House Bill Proposes New Malpractice Protections For Doctors

Law360, Washington (March 4, 2014, 4:55 PM EST) -- Two bipartisan congressmen have introduced a bill that would alter doctors' medical malpractice liability in an effort to lower overall health care costs, the lawmakers said on Tuesday.

Reps. Andy Barr, R-Ky., and Ami Bera, D-Calif., claim the Saving Lives, Saving Costs Act will reduce medical malpractice and insurance fraud and stem the flow of frivolous malpractice lawsuits against physicians by creating evidence-based guidelines for patient care.
