Fla. House Subcommittee Advances Water Regulation Bill

Law360, Miami (March 4, 2014, 9:31 PM EST) -- A bill that would limit local governments' ability to regulate wetlands and water resources on Tuesday passed a Florida House of Representatives subcommittee despite concerns from environmental groups and various county governments.

The Florida House Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee voted HB 703 out favorably despite reservations, but the legislators pledged to work with the bill's sponsor, Rep. Jimmy Patronis, R-Panama City, and stakeholders to balance the bill's intent to eliminate duplicative regulation with the counties' need to manage their resources.
