W.Va. House Passes Chemical Storage Tank Bill

Law360, Los Angeles (March 6, 2014, 9:23 PM EST) -- The West Virginia House of Delegates on Wednesday passed chemical storage tank legislation that was previously approved by the state Senate, in response to the devastating chemical spill earlier this year that left 300,000 people without water for several days.

The House passed the bill, SB 373, with 95 voting favor and none voting against. Five delegates didn't vote.

The bill requires yearly state inspections of above-ground chemical storage tanks and forces operators to submit a spill prevention response plan for each tank. The plans will...
