Sebelius Parries HHS Budget Criticism, ACA Attacks

Law360, New York (March 12, 2014, 2:21 PM EDT) -- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius appeared on Capitol Hill on Wednesday for the first public discussion of her agency’s $77 billion budget plan for 2015, defending hospital reimbursement proposals in a hearing otherwise dominated by debate about the Affordable Care Act.

At the House Ways and Means Committee, Sebelius faced grilling by several lawmakers about HHS’ plans to cull the ranks of so-called critical access hospitals in rural areas and trim their payment rates.
