USTR Seeks TPP Fast Track, Touts Potential In Asia

Law360, New York (March 11, 2014, 4:33 PM EDT) -- U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman urged Congress to grant the administration fast-track authority to expedite approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, saying Monday the trade pact will open up Asian markets to American firms and bolster global intellectual property rights.

Speaking at a National League of Cities conference in Washington, D.C., Froman said the TPP will improve U.S. manufacturing, service and agricultural exports to Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries. His speech comes as years of negotiations on the trade agreement are reportedly wrapping up.
