Italian Electricity Co. Ordered To Halt Coal-Fired Units

Law360, New York (March 11, 2014, 9:32 PM EDT) -- Tirreno Power SpA, one of Italy's biggest electricity producers, said Tuesday it had shut down the coal-fired units at one of its thermal-power plants after an Italian judge reportedly determined they had exceeded their emissions limits.

Savona, Italy, preliminary investigations Judge Fiorenza Giorgi ordered the seizure of the Vado Ligure plant, located in the country's Ligure region, due to Tirreno Power's negligence and the unreliability of the plant's emissions data, according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta del Sud.
