Ex-Credit Suisse Banker Pleads Guilty To Tax Evasion Plot

Law360, New York (March 12, 2014, 2:16 PM EDT) -- A former Credit Suisse AG banker pled guilty in Virginia federal court Wednesday to helping U.S. clients avoid taxes by hiding their money in Swiss bank accounts, and agreed to help the government with its ongoing investigation of tax havens.

Andreas M. Bachmann, 56, of Switzerland, pled guilty to one count of conspiring to defraud the United States for his role in a scheme to convince U.S. customers to open undeclared, tax-free accounts to conceal their assets from the Internal Revenue Service.
