House Weighs Options On Internet Sales Taxation

Law360, New York (March 12, 2014, 4:19 PM EDT) -- House Republicans on Wednesday continued their search for an alternative to a Democratic proposal that would let local governments force out-of-state retailers to collect sales tax on online purchases.

The House Judiciary Committee spent three hours hearing pitches for the best way to stop online retailers from avoiding sales taxes, which brick-and-mortar businesses say gives them an unfair advantage and local governments say is depleting their coffers.
