7th Circ. Blasts Personal Injury Atty, Suggests DOJ Action

Law360, Los Angeles (March 12, 2014, 4:34 PM EDT) -- A Seventh Circuit panel on Wednesday lambasted a Georgia personal injury attorney for “outrageous conduct” in not submitting to a district court’s contempt order, strongly suggesting that the lower court send Wednesday’s opinion to the U.S. Department of Justice and the state bar.

Judge Richard Posner, writing for a unanimous panel, criticized attorney David Lashgari for splitting with a car accident victim part of a settlement that was owed to the victim’s health insurer and then filing a frivolous appeal to the trial court’s contempt order....
