Senators Raise Health, Enviro Concerns At Keystone Hearing

Law360, New York (March 13, 2014, 3:58 PM EDT) -- Senate lawmakers on Thursday sharply questioned whether TransCanada Corp.'s Keystone XL pipeline is in the best interest of the country, pointing to the likelihood that much of the refined oil will be sent abroad while U.S. residents bear the project's environmental and public health risks.

As the State Department continues to consider public and agency comments on a final supplemental environmental review published in January, several members of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations railed against the project during a hearing considering the pipeline's national interest....
