6th Circ. Won't Rework Fees In $3M Civil Rights Settlement

Law360, Los Angeles (March 13, 2014, 4:21 PM EDT) -- A Sixth Circuit panel on Thursday rejected Fieger Fieger Kenney Johnson & Giroux PC's attempts to claim the “lion’s share” of attorneys’ fees in a $3 million civil rights settlement, ruling the firm had not justified using a percentage-based fee structure.

Judge Deborah Cook, writing for the panel in an unpublished opinion, affirmed a district court opinion that awarded Fieger just over $75,000 out of $900,000 in total attorneys’ fees. Feiger, now known as Fieger Law PC, cited cases it claimed allowed the court to use...
