Visa Europe Wants To Strike Deal With EU

Law360, New York (April 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Visa Europe Ltd.'s president told reporters on Wednesday that he expects to strike a “negotiated settlement” with the European Commission over interchange fees. The settlement could end an antitrust investigation into what the bloc's competition regulator has called price-fixing.

Speaking to reporters in Brussels, Belgium, Peter Ayliffe said that Visa believes “a negotiated settlement is the right way forward.”

He added that EU officials were eager to negotiate a binding agreement to end the case.
