GE, Westinghouse Found Liable In $7M Asbestos Verdict

Law360, Philadelphia (March 14, 2014, 5:58 PM EDT) -- A jury in Pennsylvania state court returned a $7.25 million verdict Wednesday for the estate of a man who died from mesothelioma after on-the-job exposure to products manufactured by a group of defendants including General Electric Co. and Westinghouse Electric Co. LLC.

A jury in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia County found that the family of Richard Merwitz, a former worker in the city’s shipyard, was due $7.25 million in wrongful death and survivor’s benefits after he succumbed to asbestos-related mesothelioma in June 2010....
