Schlumberger Says Top IP Lawyer Stole Trade Secrets

Law360, Washington (March 17, 2014, 4:40 PM EDT) -- Schlumberger Ltd. on Friday sued its former deputy general counsel of intellectual property in Texas state court for allegedly misappropriating trade secret data shortly before leaving the company and taking an executive position at Acacia Research Group.

The oilfield services giant alleges its former counsel Charlotte Rutherford, who is currently a senior vice president at Acacia, “unlawfully appropriated secured or stole” Schlumberger trade secrets in her final days with the company.
