EPA Secures Removal Of Pesticide From Pet Collars

Law360, New York (March 17, 2014, 6:07 PM EDT) -- Two pet collar companies agreed to phase out products containing the pesticide propoxur after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency found that use of the chemical in flea and tick collars endangered children's health, the agency said on Friday.

Sergeant's Pet Care Products Inc. and Wellmark International will stop producing flea and tick collars containing propoxur by April 1, 2015, and stop distributing them by April 1, 2016, according to the EPA. The collars are marketed under the names Bansect, Sentry, Zodiac and Biospot.
