Companies Begin Battle For H-1B Visas

Law360, New York (April 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- As anticipated, U.S. companies have started filing mountains of requests for the highly coveted H-1B visas for potential workers while bracing for a likely lottery that will leave many wanting.

The scramble came on Tuesday as Sens. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) and Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) sent letters to the top 25 recipients of the visa petitions in 2007 seeking to find a way to close alleged loopholes in the program.
