DOJ Joins In Kickback Suit Against Ohio Hospital

Law360, New York (April 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice announced on Tuesday that it is intervening in a whistleblower suit that alleges an Ohio hospital defrauded federal health programs by awarding work to cardiologists based on how much revenue they brought into the hospital.

The suit was filed against the Christ Hospital and the Ohio Heart Health Group of Cincinnati in 2003 by a former employee of the hospital. The case was unsealed on Tuesday. The government has not yet filed its own complaint in the case but plans to...
