Anheuser-Busch Urges TTAB To Nix 'Winebud' Mark

Law360, Washington (March 18, 2014, 6:20 PM EDT) -- Anheuser-Busch Inc. pushed the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board on Tuesday to reject a winemaker's attempt to register a "Winebud" trademark for wine products, saying the move will dilute its "Bud" family of beer and malt beverage products and confuse consumers.

The Budweiser maker claimed that an expert study showed that 26 percent of respondents assumed that Innvopak Systems PTY Ltd.'s proposed “Winebud” mark was associated with the beer company, despite the fact that Anheuser-Busch has never entered the wine market.
