CMS To Test New Way To Balance Hospice And Curative Care

Law360, New York (March 19, 2014, 2:36 PM EDT) -- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a notice asking for hospice centers to participate in a pilot program to test whether Medicare beneficiaries who meet hospice eligibility requirements would choose hospice care if they could still continue to seek curative services.

The CMS Innovation Center expects to select about 30 certified and enrolled hospice care centers in a mix of rural and urban areas through a competitive application process to participate in the 3-year Medicare Care Choices Model program. The program is designed to...
