FTC Act Should Cover Consumer Behavior Scores, Panel Says

Law360, New York (March 19, 2014, 7:58 PM EDT) -- Data analytics experts on Wednesday urged the Federal Trade Commission to use its Section 5 authority along with existing statutory protections to address concerns over the growing use of data profiles to make predictions about consumers’ behaviors, despite industry groups’ insistence that the practice was already adequately regulated.
