PE Firm Pumps $70M Into Africa's Largest Wind Project

Law360, New York (March 24, 2014, 1:37 PM EDT) -- Africa-focused private equity firm Harith General Partners Ltd. will pour $70 million into wind energy in Kenya, propelling Africa’s largest clean energy project forward after years of fundraising, the firm said Monday.

Closing the latest chunk of financing is a critical step in advancing the roughly $877.5 million Lake Turkana Wind Power Project, which is expected to add 300 megawatts of low cost energy to Kenya’s national grid and brings the total amount raised to just more than $870 million, Tshepo Mahloele, CEO of Harith, explained...
