Labor Contractor Liable For Trafficking Thai Workers: Judge

Law360, Los Angeles (March 24, 2014, 9:44 PM EDT) -- A Hawaii federal judge on Wednesday found a California-based labor contractor liable for its supervisors' alleged harassment and discrimination of more than 500 Thai workers in Hawaii in the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's biggest-ever farm work human-trafficking suit.

Granting three motions for partial summary judgment filed by the EEOC, U.S. District Judge Leslie E. Kobayashi held that Global Horizons Inc. had admitted that its supervisors physically and verbally harassed the workers, creating a hostile work environment in violation of federal anti-discrimination laws.
