Drilling Co. Owner Pleads Guilty To Fracking Waste Dump

Law360, New York (March 24, 2014, 6:42 PM EDT) -- The former owner of an Ohio oil and gas services contractor pled guilty in federal court Monday to ordering an employee to release thousands of gallons of hydraulic fracturing waste liquids down a stormwater drain and into the Mahoning River.

Hardrock Excavating LLC's former owner Benedict Lupo admitted to ordering employee Michael Guesman to discharge the toxic wastewater on numerous occasions over a three-month period from the company's Youngstown, Ohio, facility, which stores 58 tanks with an approximate capacity of 20,000 gallons each. Lupo faces up to...
