Pa. Lawmakers Plan Bill To Ban Cash From Lobbyists

Law360, New York (March 25, 2014, 6:28 PM EDT) -- Two Pennsylvania state senators announced Tuesday their plans to introduce legislation that would ban lawmakers from accepting cash gifts from lobbyists following reports about a botched sting operation by the attorney general’s office involving an informant who offered cash to Philadelphia-area legislators.

Sen. Lisa Baker, R-Luzerne and Sen. Lloyd Smucker, R-Lancaster, said the legislation would impose an “absolute ban” on legislators accepting cash gifts from lobbyists, principals, consultants and others who attempt to influence the legislative process.
