Obama Taps Ex-O'Melveny Atty As Head DOJ Legal Counsel

Law360, New York (March 25, 2014, 4:13 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration on Monday chose Karl Thompson, a former O'Melveny & Myers LLP partner who has most recently served as counsel to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, as acting head of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel.

The choice makes Thompson the second O’Melveny attorney to head the office, which acts as the primary legal adviser to the executive branch, following appellate partner Walter Dellinger, who held the job during the first Clinton administration.
