Ex-Dewey Exec Sued By Aviva Over Losses On $35M Notes

Law360, Los Angeles (March 25, 2014, 9:17 PM EDT) -- Aviva Life and Annuity Co. hit a former Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP executive with a securities lawsuit in Iowa federal court Tuesday, accusing the defendant of lying about the true state of the now-bankrupt firm’s finances when it issued $35 million in senior secured notes in 2010.

The new action comes the same month as three former top Dewey professionals, including Chairman Steven Davis, were indicted in New York state court on charges they misled lenders, other lawyers and investors about the firm’s financial health before...
