Massey Cleared Of $76.3M Verdict, Again

Law360, New York (April 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Accusations of judicial impropriety have not stopped the West Virginia Supreme Court from nullifying, for the second time, a verdict that would have required Massey Energy Co. to fork over $76.3 million in a contractual dispute.

The Supreme Court voted 3-2 on Thursday to overturn the award of $50 million plus interest, upholding the decision it rendered in November before the judicial controversy exploded.
