Eni, Repsol, Total Caught In EU Wax Cartel Probe

Law360, New York (April 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- European oil bigwigs Eni SpA, Repsol YPF and Total SA are reportedly among those ensnared in the European Commission's investigation into a possible paraffin wax cartel.

The EC's formal assessment examined whether the companies had agreed to fix their prices for paraffin wax, to divvy up customers among themselves instead of competing and to exchange trade secrets on production capacity and sales volumes, among other industry issues, according to Eni's 2007 annual shareholders report.
