5th Circuit Overturns $1M Hurricane Katrina Decision

Law360, New York (April 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An appeals court has thrown out a $1 million punitive award and ordered a new trial in the case of a couple who sued State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. after losing their home during Hurricane Katrina.

On Monday, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit remanded the case of Norman and Genevieve Broussard, who lost their home in Biloxi, Miss., in the 2005 storm.
