SEC Forms Group To Focus On Private Funds

By Kaitlyn Kiernan (April 7, 2014, 3:56 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is looking to further enhance scrutiny of private equity and hedge funds with a new dedicated group, according to a Monday media report.

The SEC created a new private fund unit headed by industry veterans Igor Rozenblit and Marc Wyatt to examine areas of concern involving private equity and hedge fund fee structures, communications with investors and asset valuation, Reuters reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Rozenblit referred requests for comment to SEC spokespeople. SEC spokespeople did not immediately respond Monday.
