Petitions For H1-B Visas Reach Cap

Law360 (April 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Just a week after the application period for H1-B visas began, federal immigration officials said they had enough petitions for the visas, which allow skilled foreign workers into the U.S. for three years, to meet the 65,000 cap for fiscal 2009.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services also said that it received more than 20,000 H1-B petitions from individuals exempt from the cap because they have an advanced degree from an American college or university.
