FutureGen Alliance Scrambles To Keep Project Alive

Law360, New York (April 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The chairman of the FutureGen Alliance and some of his industry allies on Tuesday urged the U.S. Congress to help reinstate government financing for the FutureGen clean-coal power plant in Matoon, Ill.

At a hearing of a House Science and Technology subcommittee, Paul Thompson said the FutureGen Alliance's 13 members were still committed to moving forward with the project, despite the Department of Energy's decision to pull out of its significant financial role.
