AT&T Eyes Apple, Others Over MPEG Patents

Law360, New York (February 10, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Telephone company AT&T has accused Apple Computer Inc. and several other high tech companies of infringing its patents for widely-used MPEG video compression technology, setting the stage for possible lawsuits if ongoing licensing talks do not pan out.

AT&T, which made the allegations during an interview with PC Magazine, confirmed it has already reached licensing deals with Japanese imaging company Pentax Corp. and German CD/DVD recording software company Nero AG.
