USPTO Launches First Action Interview Pilot Program

Law360, New York (April 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will soon start a six-month pilot program that will speed up the review and improve the quality of new patents, it said on Monday.

The First Action Interview Pilot program will allow an applicant to have an interview with a patent examiner before any patentability actions on the merits of a new patent in the fields of electrical computers, digital processing systems and data processing.

The program will begin on April 28.
