Va. High Court Pulls Plug On Allegheny Rate Hike

Law360, New York (April 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Virginia Supreme Court has rejected Allegheny Energy Inc.'s appeal of the State Corporation Commission's decision not to let the company's subsidiary raise energy rates.

The court said Friday that the SCC had not erred in dismissing Allegheny Energy's proposal on behalf of its subsidiary, Potomac Edison Co., to nearly double the rates of energy in order to recover increased purchased power costs.
