Seagate Unleashes Patent Suit Against Rival

Law360, New York (April 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Seagate Technology LLC, the leading manufacturer of hard disk drives, is suing rival STEC Inc. in an effort to stop it from manufacturing solid-state drives, which are starting to find a niche in the computer memory market.

Seagate and its subsidiaries, including Maxtor Corp., filed the patent infringement lawsuit on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
