Korean FTC Wants To Go Easier On Chaebol: Report

Law360, New York (April 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Korean Fair Trade Commission will ask the country's National Assembly to lift restrictions on business groups known as chaebol, among other changes to the nation's antitrust laws, the Korea Herald reported.

Chaebol are the large, family-controlled Korean corporate groups that have played a major role in the South Korean economy since the 1960s. They are widely credited with turning South Korea from a Third World country into the 10th strongest economy in the world.
