Fla. Legislature Passes $77B Budget In Last Act Of Session

Law360, Miami (May 2, 2014, 10:56 PM EDT) -- The Florida legislature closed out its legislative session late Friday with the passage of a $77.1 billion budget that includes the $500 million in tax cuts prioritized by Gov. Rick Scott.

Called a “patchwork of awesomeness” on the House floor on Friday, a number of sales tax cut provisions — including a nine-day sales tax holiday on hurricane preparedness supplies and another on energy-efficient products — in the budget passed unanimously in that chamber just minutes before the general appropriations bill passed 102-15.
