Endo Sued In Philly Over Fortesta Testosterone Gel

Law360, Philadelphia (May 9, 2014, 4:02 PM EDT) -- Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Prostrakan Group PLC were hit with a product liability lawsuit in Pennsylvania court on Thursday over their testosterone-boosting Fortesta gel.

In the lawsuit, apparently the first to be filed in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas against U.K.-based Prostrakan, plaintiffs Demetric Taylor and his wife contend that the use of the testosterone-enhancing gel led to his heart attack.

The suit alleges that Fortesta, which was developed by Prostrakan and licensed to Endo for sales in the U.S., is an unnecessary drug pushed commercially to treat a disease that does not exist.
