USDA May Post Names Of Stores In Meat Recalls

Law360, New York (April 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Meat slaughterhouses and processors could soon be forced to release a list of retailers that purchased a particular product when it is recalled, as the U.S. Department of Agriculture sent a proposed set of new rules to the White House for comments last week.

The White House Office of Management and Budget has three months to review the proposed rule, which the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Services put forth in March 2006, and decide whether to send it back to the USDA for changes, veto...
