Florida Lawsuit Targets 'Bring Your Gun To Work' Law

Law360 (April 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Unable to stop Florida lawmakers from passing the “Bring Your Gun To Work” bill last week, state business associations on Monday filed a complaint in federal court to have the new law declared unconstitutional.

The Florida Retail Federation Inc. and Florida Chamber of Commerce Inc. sued the state's attorney general in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, alleging that the law was in violation of the takings and substantive due process clauses of the U.S. Constitution's Fifth Amendment.
