Court Upholds Verdict Against Tyco In Patent Suit

Law360 (December 5, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upheld in entirety a federal district court decision awarding Utah Medical Products about $23 million in damages and accrued interest for patent infringement from a subsidiary of Tyco International.

In September, a federal district court issued a formal judgment awarding the company damages as a result of the January jury verdict that Tyco International's Softrans Intrauterine Pressure Catheter infringes Utah Medical's patent.
