Rotterdam Court to Hear Stolichnaya Trademark Dispute In February

Law360, New York (October 14, 2003, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Rotterdam court will hear the dispute over the ownership of Stolichnaya and Moskovskaya vodka brands in markets outside Russia on February 4, 2004, Prime-Tass news agency reported, citing an official with Russian vodka maker Soyuzplodoimport.

The well-known Stolichnaya and Moskovskaya brands belonged to Soviet state-owned company Soyuzplodoimport until the collapse of the regime. However, in the late 1990s these rights were taken over by a private company with a similar name, Soyuzplodimport, or SPI, registered in Curacao, the Dutch Antilles, according to Prime-Tass.
